A year ago, Michigan won college football’s national championship. Tonight, two of its rivals for play for the title.
Because I cover Michigan, I wrote about how Wolverine fans are handling the matchup between Ohio State and Notre Dame.
I can’t say the findings were surprising. Michigan fans aren’t happy about the matchup but almost all of them want Notre Dame to win.
In the strange-but-true category, one Buckeye can become a back-to-back national champion. Joey Velazquez, an Ohio State linebacker who has appeared in 13 games this season, played for Michigan last season.
Moving on to hoops, while covering the Michigan men’s team in Los Angeles (aka Hollywood), I thought it made sense to write about how the roster features several players with famous fathers.
To wrap this brief post with one more of my stories, last night’s Michigan-Northwestern game was a great example of how replay reviews are making close games less exciting.
Dusty May was the voice of reason after the game, which featured a five-minute overtime that lasted more than 30 minutes of real time.
“Do I like it? No,” he said. “The fans don’t like it. Television? Maybe they sell (advertisements). I don’t know. I don’t know who likes it.”
